Matcheboxes from the Subcontinent
January 3rd, 2009
Have just uploaded my immense collection of Indian matchboxes to the photos section of my site.
Collected during my time working from Bangalore, these matchboxes are the tangible memories of my various travels and experiences through India. The random and disparate juxtapositions of the imagery encapsulate the mix of historic, mythological and contemporary visual culture in India. Go see.

Nice Collection! You’ve got them all… almost. No “Home Lites” or another million of its derivatives? You couldn’t have missed that

Thanks Paul, these are my pride and joy! Ah yes the ‘Home Lites’. Your right, I really should have that here.

ooh, i recognise most of these. When i was in bangalore i used to obsessively pick up every matchbox I found around Koramangala. Ah, things like that you can do in India. I’ve been in Milan for 5 months now and I haven’t seen a single matchbox
