Studio course I facilitated this week with Srishti Foundation design students on the concept of City…

Dates: 10th – 14th August 2009 (wk6)
Facilitators: Matt Lee/ Ravindra G/ Kripa Bhatia

Course Abstract: Studio is a reflective space provided for students to take their learning from two of their previous core courses to a more informed level. This course prepares students for projects constructed in the context of the previous courses in the coming week. In a time line studio 1 is situated between Courses: Perspective & Mapping and Projects: Problematic space, Practical space & Utopian space.

Studio 1 explores the concept of city through discussion, categorization, readings, firsthand experience and presentations. Drawing and reportage tools are used as a form of immersion and interaction, to document the tangible and intangible dynamics of city, observing how space gets constructed, used and adapted. These understandings are then used to formulate design led contextual initiatives.
